Landscape design studio, Kyiv
One studio draws the whole outdoor plan: garden layouts, planting schemes, pathways and stone edges, then a seasonal maintenance calendar so the planting matures instead of unravelling.
Plan your garden with usStudio introduction
Kalyna Landscape Studio plans outdoor space for Ukrainian conditions: frozen ground from December to March, then weeks of dry heat in midsummer. We choose plants that survive both, so a border still looks full in August without daily watering.
Planting leans on lavender, hydrangea, and ornamental grasses that settle into local soil and ask for little once established. Paths, terraces, and lighting are laid out around how the household actually moves through the garden, from morning coffee to evening gatherings.
What we do
A garden here has to survive a Kyiv winter and a dry August. Each stage below closes with a written deliverable, so you can pause, budget, and continue later without starting over.
Soil testing, light mapping and a drainage survey of your plot, with a short report on which plants will thrive and which will struggle.
A scaled master plan dividing the grounds into dining, lawn, orchard and utility zones, drawn with dimensions you can hand to any contractor.
Layered beds built on lavandula, hydrangea and ornamental grasses, chosen for low water demand and a succession of colour from May to October.
Pathways, retaining walls, steps and terrace paving detailed with frost-resistant bases and a free-draining sub-base under every surface.
Low-voltage lines along paths, steps and feature trees, aimed at gentle wayfinding rather than floodlit showpieces.
Drip zones matched to the planting plan, an autumn blow-out routine, and a season-by-season maintenance calendar for the years after handover.
How we work
We walk the plot with you, measure the area, and test soil, drainage and sun exposure. You describe how the garden should work on an ordinary Tuesday, not just in photos.
Deliverable: written site summary and a fixed design fee.
Two hand-sketched layouts showing zones for lawn, terrace, beds and paths, drawn to scale and shaped around the existing trees and slope.
Deliverable: scaled layout plan with one revision round included.
Species are chosen for cold winters and dry summers: lavender, hydrangea, ornamental grasses and native perennials that need less water and less fuss.
Deliverable: planting plan, spacing grid and priced plant list.
Path edges, irrigation lines and lighting routes are set out first. Plants arrive from a local nursery and go into amended soil in the agreed order.
Deliverable: stage photo report and a one-year plant replacement warranty on planting we carried out, excluding neglect.
Pruning, mulching, feeding and winter protection are scheduled month by month, so you know what happens next and when we return.
Deliverable: a twelve-month care calendar, with optional maintenance visits.

We surveyed drainage, light and wind before any digging, then rebuilt the layout around what the site could already support.
Client notes
We asked for a garden that could survive minus twenty and still look alive in August. They planted lavender, hydrangea, and ornamental grasses along a curved path, then handed us a maintenance calendar we actually follow.
Pricing was broken down line by line before anyone lifted a shovel. The pathways went in first, planting followed two weeks later. No surprises on the final invoice.
Our slope kept washing out every spring. They reshaped the grade, added grasses that hold the soil, and the runoff stopped in the first season.
The seasonal maintenance plan is the part I value most. Pruning dates arrive before the work, and the beds stay readable all year round.
Plants installed by our team carry a one-year replacement warranty, excluding neglect. Growth and bloom timing depend on weather.
